I read your africa here i come entry and omigawd!! I know how you feel!! I have an entry excactly like that from a few months ago!!! And you know what really makes you mad!? One missil sim. to the ones being used in iraq just the cost of one could feed a whole middle sized school in africa for a year. I go to mexico to build houses and stuff every year.. but I have always wanted to go to africa, It was funny coz they were so more concerned about poverty in africa in london. It was all over there newspapers and those "Make poverty history" things.. it was awesome someone was giving a shit. I hate bush.

What does hating Bush have to do with caring for poverty? Bush isn't pro-poverty or anything...look what he did for Afghanistan. Just because he isn't a bleeding-heart liberal doesn't mean that the country isn't doing anything for other nations - the US still leads the world in amount of foreign aid. Don't blame the materialism of Americans on Bush...sorry, I'm a conservative ;).

umm i dont think it is, but good try. and deepak, i was not blaming bush for the poverty in the rest of the world, by any means. and afghanistan is not really what i would call well off because of what we did. i mean sure its not in the news, but their entire economy consists of opium trade now. i believe they are the world's formost producer of it now. we may lead the world in foreign aid, but we still don't give enough given the amount we could be giving. other countries that combine to our resources give more than we do combined (did that make sense?). anyway, as you know i hate bush. and i am very liberal. and i keep myself educated on the events in the world. and i don't blame bush personally, but i blame in part our government, his administration, and people like him who believe that we have the right to police the world and invade other countries. and america's materialism outdates bush by about 100 years.

and deepak, i didn't think you were a conservative.

I was actually talking to Thomas...but ok :P.

I am a conservative...sad, isn't it? I just find that historically, humans cannot be trusted with an extremely liberal government - there's too much skimming off the top for this and that.

The other thing is, it's too hard to convince people to give to a cause in a far-off continent, when they see poverty and destitution in our own streets...while it is true that our poor are much better off than the poor of other countries, almost everyone is jaded, thinking that all people deserve a house, multiple cars, etc. While a lot of times these things are necessary, they wouldn't be if the government did anything to curb this materialism subtly - here, we can learn from England. Two words: public transportation. If an efficient and cheap subway-like system was implemented in all major cities and their suburbs, it would eliminate the need for everyone to own a car. Things like this prevent our society from realizing just how different things are overseas. I stop rambling now...but the point is, it is our own fault (as a society), not the government's, that our aid figure is low, comparatively.

I still think going into Iraq/Afghanistan was the right thing to do. Obviously, the manner in which it was done can be greatly improved, but oh well...people want to be free, it is the select few that keep the great masses in terror.

I'd really like to be a liberal, it's just that I don't have faith in humanity to do the right thing. Yay conservatism with its dreary pessimism and mind-numbing practicalities.

If your threesome is anything like "a certain person who shall remain nameless"'s fantasy...please God no. Btw, do you have her AIM? I don't have my contact list here.

who? you mean...miss "I've never used a condom before"? I believe its Redishbrownklutz, but she hasn't been on like all summer so je ne sais pas. what's your AIM anyway?

to digress back:
I must say, that I find it so hard to see people who don't want to help each other out. call me stupid, naive, whatever, but I don't see why people can't just help each other rather than constantly trying to hurt each other. and public transportation in the NE is really pretty good. DFW is a really bad example because we have like, NO public tranportation system whatsoever. god europe is so amazing. and actually up north, there isn't a need for everyone to own a car. people can walk/subway/whatever. it's much more like it is in europe. TX is just...ugh. not cool. sorry I'm blathering and I don't really know why. How's India on public transport?

deepak, when has any country ever really had a truly liberal government? i mean real liberal, not pretend to be, claim they are/be republicans dressed as democrats sort of thing. the world has never had a truly LIBERAL government. the US really hasn't and neither has the rest of the world. some of the european ones now are more liberal, but they haven't been for long time yet, so we'll have to wait and see. so far though, we have had some whopper conservative ones and they have not been what i would call great. or good. or anything positive but thats me. anyway, sorry just added that thought randomly.
