"open your eyes to the millions of lies that they tell you every day"

Some things to think about:
1. The ideas put forth in the movie JFK (essentially, the assassination of President Kennedy and the shady circumstances surrounding everything that has to do with it). What really happened? Why was there such a cover up regarding so many aspects of it? Why were all the key people killed? What was the connection between the murders of the Kennedy brothers (Jack and Bobby)? Was it really a cout in our own country in the spirit of all those our government has organized in countless Latin American and Middle Eastern countries?

2. When our American culture looks at women of conservative/fundamentalist Islamic faith (i.e. those who wear veils to cover their faces) and hoots about how they cover and hide themselves from the world, we must ask ourselves what American society says when it indirectly dictates that women must wear make up and hide their true features from the world. Are women who wear little or no make up not shunned and looked down upon in a similar way that women in Islamic societies are when they don’t wear veils? Except that in our country, there isn’t violence and threats, but rather sneaky cowardly actions, such as not hiring someone for a job or talking about them behind their backs. Degrading them and thinking less of them for refusing to hide who they truly are beneath inch thick makeup.

These two things have been occupying my thoughts today. I know some of my friends feel annoyed by my liberalness and by my constant interest in politics/political ranting. I apologize to those of you who don’t want to hear it, but it is something I am passionate about. I don’t care if you don’t agree with me. You have your thoughts/beliefs/ways and I have mine. But don’t dismiss me because you think me too liberal. Don’ shut your eyes to things because they’re not pretty and because you want to keep living in a dream world. If you truly believe in something, and you see it as absolute truth, then welcome oppositions to it. Your faith in politics, religion, people, love, whatever should hold against all resistance. Those who refuse to see other ways…why? If you see your way as the true and right way then there should never be any other way for you. Unless you are wrong. In which case I believe it is better to have it proven wrong and find what you truly believe and stop living a lie, but that’s just me. I suppose this will seem weird to a lot of you, but oh well. This is my passion, and I shall declare it to the world.

Very interesting thoughts, very interesting indeed. Many people view America as being one of the best countries in the world, and the fact remains that yes, it is a great place to live; however, the fact that our society is so commercially-driven hinders much of that power that we give ourselves. You know? I think you're dead-on about the makeup, but to me it depends on what kind of makeup you're talking about. I wear makeup, yes, but not caked on - enough to enhance the eyes and cover up unsightly blemishes and stuff. I blame American society for that, wanting us to look a certain way - but at the same time, it also gives me confidence when I put it on, to show I've made some form of an effort.

Personally, I've never degraded anyone for what makeup they don't wear - more like, I hold in a lower esteem anyone with over-done makeup. More power to the girls who feel confident with little or no makeup on - those will be the girls who change the world one day because they choose to go their own way.

I've never seen JFK so I have no comments on that part of your post. Sorry.

I don't feel annoyed by your liberalness, and I apologize if that question I posed to you on my xanga made it seem like that. I understand it's how you feel about the government and about how society is and should be run. It's part of what makes you...well, you. As boring as political talks can be to me (as well you know, as I've avoided talking politics with you so well over the past four years you don't even know what my beliefs are), I know you thrive on their existence.

Hope you had a good break - I'll see you in a bit this morning, and it was good to see you at Sonic night, although we missed you at the game. Oh well...that's what Christmas break is for.

By the way, I finally put the original BSB on my iTunes. Happy now? ; )

Hey Kelly I haven't talked to you in forever! How I miss thee, while I would love to write just as much as the previous entry I definately don't have the time, sorry love, hmwk, college stuff, and work shall be the death of me. However I will comment...now! To the JFK comments, intriguing I have always been plagued by all of that randomness, I would like to know why everyone was killed it seems very govt cover up, however I would probably cry if I discovered my JFK was corrupt. I really have no idea while I just referred to a deceased president as mine...but yeah whatever. To the religious question, I do feel it is an atrocious event when women are treated badly for the ways they choose to prevent themselves but I have a varying viewpoint on the matter. I think it's wrong that we don't support women who chose to cover themselves and wear veils, and I also highly disapprove in situations where women don't get the job because they aren't as professional looking do to the withdraw of makeup. However I don't agree with the previous commenter on the fact that women that don't wear make up will change the world someday. I do totally applaud those individuals who don't feel the need to wear make up and are comfortable in their own skin, but I don't think that all women that wear make up aren't comfortable in their own skin. Sometimes people just want to look pretty, or i don't know I just didn't agree with the statement. But yeah I love you, and miss you, especially your political rants. Now I'll I have is the debate team and they're just no fun!! By the way I totally entered my name in the 8 question thingy..please respond! Have fun at college!

5. At the moment, in light of my answer to #4, it would have to be you sitting in the chair in Serena's attic while asking Ken "what have you done with my mother?"
6. "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."
7. How do you stay so positive about everything, despite knowing/seeing so much negative stuff?
